Charges are pending against a Warsaw man accused of beating his estranged girlfriend with a post from a canopy bed, resulting in multiple injuries to her.
Tohnya L. Miner, 27, of West Main Street, Atwood, suffered several broken ribs, one broken and two fractured vertebrae and a partially collapsed lung in the Saturday evening attack. Miner ran to a neighbor's house and was taken from there to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries. She was listed in stable condition this morning.
Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine said a warrant will be issued for the arrest of Robert H. Moser, 23, of Warsaw.
According to a KCSD report, Miner was in the shower at her residence when Moser came into the home and told her to come out. The two reportedly have a child together but have not been seeing each other for four to five months.
Miner told police that she knew Moser was angry when she stepped from the shower and he reportedly choked her before striking her with a post from a canopy bed. He then allegedly kicked her in the sides about 10 times and hit her in the lower back with the post.
After the attack, Moser then reportedly handed the post to Miner and told her to beat him with it or he would beat her again. Miner said she struck Moser in the leg and ribs before she got away from him and ran to the home of a neighbor, who is also her landlord.
The landlord told police Moser also came to his house but he threw him out due to his intoxicated state.
While sheriff's deputies were investigating the incident, Moser went to the Pierceton Police Department and wanted to given his side of the story, according to an incident report at the KCSD. Moser reportedly said that he and Miner were arguing when she got the post and struck him. He was limping and had blood on his face when he talked with police. Moser said he hit himself in the face with his hand and caused a bloody nose when he tried to take the post from Miner.
The matter remains under investigation. [[In-content Ad]]
