Attention

Editor, Times-Union:
I have a plan and wonder if perchance it might work to get our government officials’ attention.
The plan goes like this: Beginning July 1 through the 5th, stay home, don’t spend one thin dime on “anything,” especially fuel, food and Walmart-type “stuff”.
Those who are unemployed might not have a problem with staying home those five days and not shopping, but for those who have jobs might have a bit of a problem with my ideas. They could show their support by not buying “anything”. By not making any purchases, there would be no state tax revenue for Indiana for those five days. Concentrate on “no fuel”.
The only effective way of getting the attention of the federal government would be for the workers brave enough to stay away from work those five days. In this uncertain, volatile economy, that would be asking a lot of them. The results of absence from work would deny the IRS tax revenues. Would it have any effect? I don’t know, but we have to get the attention of those who govern us somehow. It is my idea of a “Peaceful Revolution” in celebration of the original revolution for our independence in 1776.
Our ancestors took a chance and put their money and lives on the line for the “American Dream.” The American Dream has become a nightmare and we need to get it back!
Thanks in advance for any area of cooperation you can give and pass it on to friends, family, and neighbors who might not have the opportunity to read this letter.
