SYRACUSE - There are no arrests yet in the theft of a truck and ATM Sunday morning.

At 4:30 a.m. Sunday, a Pride Gas Station employee, 10010 N. Turkey Creek Road, Syracuse, reported an ATM, located in the right corner of the building, appeared to have been dragged out of the store.

Security video showed a white full-size Ford 4x4 backed up to the doors of the business, then rammed the door.[[In-content Ad]]According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department report, it then appeared two males got out of the truck. One suspect wore blue coveralls with a dark hood over his head, and the other had on blue jeans and a dark hooded sweatshirt.

A log chain used to wrap around the ATM was left at the scene.

Pierceton police officer Matt Owens contacted KCSD officers and informed them of a truck, matching the description of the vehicle used in the robbery, headed northbound on Ind. 13.

Owens also gave names of possible suspects linked in a similar robbery in Pierceton a couple of weeks ago.

At 10:15 a.m. Sunday, county dispatch received a call of an abandoned truck on Kyle Road west of CR 850E.

At the scene, KCSD officers found a white Ford F-150, the tailgate from the F-150 off the vehicle, as well as a spare tire and an ATM broken into several pieces.

The truck was registered to JC Manufacturing.

Jerry W. Amsden, owner of JC Manufacturing, Syracuse, was informed that a truck registered to his business was used in the theft. Amsden drove to the business and confirmed that a work truck had been stolen.

Amsden and another JC Manufacturing employee informed police the business had two prior burglaries that had not been reported in November.

Amsden reported the main gate was still locked when he arrived on scene Sunday morning.

The keys were left in the truck, according to Amsden.

Amsden then pointed police to a path in the rear of the business where it appeared that a truck had driven up the side of a hill and out through a neighboring business' parking lot to avoid the locked gate.

Anyone with information in this incident is asked to call county dispatch at 574-267-5667.
