By Staff Report-

Check out the Indiana State Police Summer Youth Camp Program for something educational and fun for your youngsters this summer.
Since 1940, these summer camps have been provided on the campuses of area universities for students from the fifth through 12th grade. The camp directors and staff are ISP men and women who volunteer their time each summer to offer area youth an in-depth look at the positive side of law enforcement.
These camps provide many programs and demonstrations by the ISP Specialty Teams, such as a Taser® demonstration, canine units, scuba team, emergency response team, emergency ordinance disposal and crime scene investigations. There also is classroom instruction on subjects such as meth, evidence technology and bullying. And there’s a time for fun with team-building exercises, swimming and food.
Camps coming to the area include:
• Respect for Law Camp – fifth and sixth grades, University of Notre Dame, June 26-28, or Anderson University July 10-12;
• Lions Law Camp – seventh and eighth grades, Anderson University, July 9-12;
• Career Camp – ninth through 12th grade, Trine University, Angola, July 13-18, or Vincennes University July 13-18.
Thanks to a grant from the Dekko Foundation, youth from Kosciusko County may be eligible for financial assistance to attend one of the camp programs.
