July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

An arrest has been made in the Jan. 30 robbery at Zale's Drug Store, Warsaw.

Stephen James O'Connell, 23, of 1122 E. Main St., Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 12:51 p.m. Wednesday after he reportedly admitted his involvement in the robbery. His bond for one count of robbery, a Class C felony, and one count of possession of a controlled substance, a Class B felony, was set at $10,000.

According to the Warsaw Police Department, O'Connell allegedly entered Zale's Drug Store Jan. 30, demanding Methadone and telling employees he was armed with a gun.

O'Connell reportedly left the store with a large quantity of the drug and fled the scene on foot.

Police established his direction of travel by viewing the surveillance video of a neighboring business and following footprints in the direction O'Connell was heading.

While tracking with a police K-9, officers found a mask made from a white toddler's Spider-Man t-shirt with eye holes cut out, reportedly worn by O'Connell during the robbery.

The track was lost in the 1300 block of East Main Street.

When police questioned O'Connell, he reportedly admitted his involvement in the crime.

A portion of the stolen drug was recovered, but police are still trying to locate more of the Methadone.

The Warsaw Police Department continue to investigate this incident, and more arrests for the use and possession of the stolen Methadone are expected.[[In-content Ad]]
