Area Artists Create New Artist Forum

By Staff Report-

Area artists are benefitting from the creation of the Warsaw Artist Forum group, according to a press release.
The forum provides an outlet for artists to share techniques and give constructive critiques on current art. The camaraderie and support is helpful for any artist pursuing a creative career, according to the release.
Andy Corp led the January meeting with a presentation on poured painting. This technique relies on the flow of water to help create the final work of art. Corp gave a demonstration of poured painting while teacher other forum members how to mix colors to create a final work of art reminiscent of an ocean sunset.
Lori Biggs will present the meeting Thursday with a review of “complimentary colors” used in all styles of painting. Referencing primary, secondary and tertiary colors on a color wheel, she will show how color is mixed to achieve a blend of warm or cool temperatures in artwork.
This basic understanding lends itself to creating depth of perception, mood lighting, abstract balance and more realistic landscapes, still life, animal and human figure paintings. Following the discussion each member will be given materials and time to create a small painting using “opposite” complimentary colors. It’s an exercise to learn the color wheel, or to refresh the memory of basic color principles, according to the release.
The next Warsaw Artist Forum meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bowling Alley Spare Room on North Detroit Street, Warsaw.
