Arby's Helps Students Learn Skills

The functional skills class at Edgewood Middle School learned on-the-job skills March 6 with the help of Arby's owner, Bill Aguilar, and Chris Polk, general manager, and all of the staff.[[In-content Ad]]Polk worked in providing the necessary means for the project to work. The Arby's staff worked hard as they displayed professionalism in teaching the class the necessary means of running a restaurant.

The class has completed some diverse projects over the course of the year dealing with survival vocabulary, money, shopping and lifeskills.

The field trip to Arby's allowed students to make personal choices in a possible working environment. Having the opportunity to use a restaurant, as a classroom, is not only a step out of the norm, but a teaching tool for the students, according to teacher Matt Thacker.
