April 15 Postmark Only Available Until 5 p.m. Today

If you didn't mail your tax return by 5 p.m. today, you may just be out of luck, although Worth Tax Service is offering a glimmer of hope for late filers and electronic filing still may be an option.
Post offices around the county are closing at 5 p.m. and any filings dropped off after that will receive a April 16 postmark on them.
The tax returns are due postmarked by midnight tonight.
The Warsaw Post Office closes at 5 p.m. today. Any filings dropped off after that in the drop boxes will be postmarked April 16, according to a post office spokesman.
This is the third year the post office has not stayed open late on April 15.
Syracuse hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Akron, 8 to 10 a.m. and noon to 4:15 p.m.; Leesburg closes at 4 p.m.; Mentone, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 4:15 p.m.; Milford, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; North Manchester, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Claypool, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 4 p.m.; Etna Green lobby hours are 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 4 p.m.; Silver Lake, 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.; Winona Lake, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and North Webster, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Pierceton Post Office hours today are 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4:30 p.m. Any filings the post office picks up from their drop box first thing Saturday morning will receive a postmark of April 15. They are the only post office in the county offering the delayed postmark.
Beverly Worth, of Worth Tax Services, 3201 E. Center St., Warsaw, called Thursday and said she is leaving at 10:30 p.m. tonight to go to Fort Wayne to deliver tax returns filing. Anyone who needs to mail their filings with the required April 15 postmark can drop them off at her business by 10:30 p.m. She will have a scale at her business so people can make sure they have the proper postage, she said.
"We're working to the wire," she said. She said she believed the number of late tax filings have been heavier this year than in the past. "It's been a zoo."
For about 20 years, the Warsaw Post Office extended its hours on April 15 to accommodate customers who who wanted to mail their tax returns at the last minute.
