He was born July 5, 1939, in Marathon, Wis., to Edward and Leora Jost Burish. On Dec. 30, 1961, in Marathon, he married Shirley Manicke, who survives.
He graduated from Marathon High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Army in Military Police from 1962-1964. He served one year in Korea from 1963-1964. He moved to Warsaw in 1965 and worked as a sales representative for various companies in women's apparel. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw, where he served as a cantor. His hobbies were singing religious music, working in his yard, talking, eating and driving. He loved his family, faith and friends.
Also surviving are three children: Jennifer Nelson, Fort Wayne; Scott (and spouse Tammi) Burish, Warsaw; and Stephanie (and spouse Jeremie) Slone, Winona Lake; six grandchildren: Christopher Sands, Blake Nelson, Lauren and Jaceb Burish, Ayla Burish and Kilee Slone; a step-grandson, Kain Slone; 10 brothers: Reuben Burish, Two Rivers, Wis.; Marlen, Edward, Elton, Kenneth, and Norbert Burish, all of Wausau, Wis.; James and John Burish, Marathon; Thomas Burish, Irma, Wis.; and Michael Burish, Milwaukee, Wis; and three sisters: Beatrice Wadzinski, Wausau, Wis.; Janet Skrzypchak, Niles, Ill.; and Shirley Reid, Hot Springs, Ark. He was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice (and spouse Lavern) Burish; a brother, Eugene Burish; and a grandson, Mitch Burish.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
