Anne Watts, 85, of 1630 S. County Farm Road, Warsaw, died at 2 p.m. Aug. 23, 2008, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.

She was born Jan. 29, 1923, in Newark, N.J., to Francis Joseph and Eilleen Teresa Berry McCauley. On June 6, 1946, in Bloomfield, N.J., she married Lawrence Watts, who preceded her in death.

Coming to Kosciusko County in 1953, she was a third-grade teacher at Milford Elementary School for 25 years. She was a member of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church and a New Jersey State Teacher's College graduate. She was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy (WAVE) as a Specialist 1st Class. She was a member of PEO, MTO, Delta Kappa Gamma and KCRTA. She volunteered at the Senior Opportunity Center, received a Kosciusko Community Hospital volunteer award and was active in the YMCA. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, knitting, reading and the love of Lake Champlain, N.Y.

Surviving are three daughters, Donna (and spouse John) Monahan, Plainfield, Vt.; and Wendy Watts and Julie Watts (and partner Robert Cohen), all of Boston, Mass.; a grandson, Kerry Monahan, Plainfield; a sister, Kathleen Morrow, Charleston, S.C.; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved Susie. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.

Services were Tuesday at Warsaw Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bill Byrd and Ron Horgan officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

No calling is planned.

McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
