She was born Dec. 15, 1934, in South Whitley, to Leroy and Cora Sroufe Baker. On Dec. 17, 1955, she married Marlin G. “Pete” Perkins, who died Aug. 22, 1998.
She graduated from Larwill High School and Ravenscroft Beauty College. She lived in Warsaw, Ohio, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Colorado before returning to Indiana in 1980. In April 1985 she moved to Pierceton. A beautician, she worked at Mary Pace Beauty Salon, Fort Wayne, for three years, Fibre Form for five years and Essex for 10 years, retiring in May 1997. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5582 Auxiliary.
Surviving are six daughters: Debra (and spouse Darrell) Byrum, Warsaw; Sandra (and spouse Bob) Lane, Churubusco; Cindy Honaker, Columbia City; Penny (and spouse John) Santora, Berea, Ohio; Rebecca (and spouse Don) Middaugh, North Baltimore, Ohio; and Lori Pulley, Albion; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She also was was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Hope Wesleyan Church, Columbia City. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
