MUNCIE – Anna Elizabeth Harter, 91, Muncie and formerly of Leesburg, died Feb. 1, 2015, at Morrison Woods Health Campus, Muncie.
She was born April 25, 1923, in Bedford, to Bart and Lucile Jackson Short. She was married to Howard D. Cring, who died in 1971, and then Charles E. Harter, who died in 1992.
She retired from AT&T (Indiana Bell) Muncie office as a telephone operator in 1978. She was a member of the Indiana Bell Pioneer Club and the Red Hat Society. She was an avid golfer.
She was a member of the North Webster United Methodist Church, where she was treasurer of her Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her son, Howard Alyn (and spouse Cindy) Cring, Muncie; a grandson, Justin Cring, Noblesville; a great-grandson, Brayden Cring, Noblesville; three step-daughters: Sally (and spouse Bill) McClure, Cicero; Lita Estes and Daylain Doan, both of Indianapolis; several step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, JoAnna Cring; a grandson, Jason Cring; three sisters: Rachel Hudson, Ruth Glover and Roberta Franklin; two infant brothers; and a step-daughter, Trudie Bernd.
Services will be at noon Friday at Garden View Funeral Home, Muncie, with the Rev. Cindy Alte officiating. Burial is in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Calling is from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.
