He was born Nov. 12, 1934, in Floyd County, Ky., to Earnest and Catherine Shepherd Reynolds. On Jan. 2, 1958, he married Ora Thompson, who survives.
A longtime resident of Kosciusko County, he faithfully served his country from 1956-80 in the U.S. Army. In his 20 years of service, he was stationed in Germany, France, Korea, Alaska and his last duty station was in Fort Gordon, Ga., and retired as a First Sergeant (Instructor) in the Signal Corps. Also, he served as a recruiter in Warsaw and Fort Wayne. He was chosen as an enlisted man to help instrument the new “Volunteer Army.” He loved to attend gospel concerts, hunting raccoons, raising hunting dogs, carpentry, spending time with his family and spending time on his farm.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jacqueline M. (and spouse Christopher) Sparkie, and Kathy L. Reynolds, all of Pierceton; a son, Drent B. Reynolds, Pierceton; four granddaughters, Jenifer, Jessica, Arielle and Ella Rose, all of Pierceton; a grandson, Stephen, Pierceton; a niece, Carol Smith, Pierceton; and a nephew, Charles (and spouse Jan) Creekmore, Pierceton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, with Pastor Ward E. Allen officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with military honors by members of Pierceton American Legion and the Indiana Army Reserve National Guard.
Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
