He was born Dec. 2, 1929, in Ashley, to Andrew A. and Louise Vanderbosch Pfefferkorn. On Oct. 16, 1954, in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Waterloo, he married Carol A. Rogers, who survives.
He was a graduate of Ashley High School and John Carroll University, Cleveland, Ohio. He retired from The Weatherhead Co. and United Technologies. He later came out of retirement and worked part-time at Ye Olde Bait and Tackle, North Webster. He was an avid fisherman and a master gardener. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1947 to 1949.
Also surviving are a daughter, Debra (and spouse Steven) Blauser, Warsaw; five sons: Thomas Pfefferkorn and Michael (and spouse Stephanie) Pfefferkorn, all of Fort Wayne; Steven Pfefferkorn and Patrick (and spouse Nicole) Pfefferkorn, all of Warsaw; and Robert (and spouse Theresa) Pfefferkorn, Las Vegas, Nev.; 11 grandchildren: Daniel Hatch, Dawn Howett, Denise Hankins and Alexander and Christopher Pfefferkorn, all of Warsaw; Diane Fitzpatrick, Nappanee; Allison Pfefferkorn, Brownsburg; Natalie Pfefferkorn, Fort Wayne; and Bryce, Tyler and Trey Pfefferkorn, all of Las Vegas; 11 great-grandchildren: Kyle and Dara Hatch; Lucas and Amslie Howett; and Simon and Andrew Hankins, all of Warsaw; Tyler and Hanna Fitzpatrick, both of Nappanee; Alyssa Klotz, Brownsburg; and Caitlin and Hailey Pfefferkorn, both of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Aelred Pfefferkorn, Waterloo, and Leo Pfefferkorn, Albion; three sisters: Estella Royal, Los Lunas, N.M.; Mildred Miller, Waterloo; and Susie Lambright, Ligonier. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lauren Pfefferkorn, Las Vegas; and three brothers, Carl, Ralph and Norbert Pfefferkorn.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw, with Father Phil Devolder officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw.
