Kara Marie Anderson and Nicholas George Schafer were married at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 5, 2009, in Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Madison, Ind., by Father John Meyer.

The bride's parents are Dennis and Mary Anderson, Silver Lake, and the groom's parents are Aline Schafer and Thomas Schafer, both of Madison.

Matron of honor was Jenna Leon, Mentone. Bridesmaids were Kristan Juliano, Fort Wayne; Shari Shaw, New Ross; and Erica Schutt, Indianapolis.

Best man was Kevin Schafer, Indianapolis. Groomsmen were Adam Schafer, Indianapolis; Ryan Shaw, New Ross; Randy Meek, Rushville; Andrew Gavin, Orlando, Fla.; and Steven Sims, Madison.

Ushers were Clayton and Caleb Tandy, both of Bowling Green, Ky., and Logan Hoffman and Patrick Bruce, both of Madison.

The reception was at the Madison Volunteer Fire House.

The bride is a kindergardent through eight-grade art teacher at West Gary Lighthouse Charter School, Gary. She graduated from Tippecanoe Valley High School, Akron, in 2004, and earned a bachelor's degree in art education from Herron School of Art & Design in 2009.

The groom works in asset protection for Wal-Mart Stores, Michigan City. He graduated from Shawe Memorial High School, Madison, in 2002. He earned associate's degrees in law enforcement and loss prevention, and a bachelor's degree in homeland security and public safety in 2007 from Vincennes University.

The wedding trip was to the Paradise Island, Bahamas.
