American Legion Auxiliary Reports On Meeting

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #49 met at the Warsaw Legion Post #49 Oct. 7. President Kathy Snell opened the meeting with the Pledge to the Flag followed by the auxiliary’s preamble. Chaplain Mary Keplinger gave opening prayer.
Second District Junior Chairman Yvonne Lent asked for donations for the Second District Auxiliary Juniors Dept. project. They were asked to collect tube socks and fill them with sundry items by Oct. 21 for Indianapolis homeless veterans.
Secretary-Treasurer Cheryl Faris called roll call with 15 members and one junior member present. The treasurer’s report was given and Snell reported on upcoming projects. Today is the legion’s fish fry, and the auxiliary will be making baked goods for sale.
Oct. 26 will be the second district meeting at Post #49, and side dishes are needed for this. On Nov. 1, the auxiliary will have a Halloween party for veterans’ children, and desserts are needed. Nov. 8 will be a craft/vendor show at the legion post. All auxiliary members are asked to bring donations to the post.
The auxiliary held a garage sale in September, and the leftovers were given to different community programs. School supplies are still needed for schools. All donations can be dropped off at the post, 301 Buffalo St., Warsaw. Names and donations for Christmas Care packages are needed as soon as possible as they will be sent out by Nov. 8, There are donations boxes at the post, Market Street Owens and Java Jacks, Mentone.
Cindy Peters reported that the junior auxiliary made Halloween cards to send to Indiana Veterans Home. Jose Ryan reported that membership is at 45 percent, and there are nine new members. Pay membership dues now for 2015.
A memorial was given for Carla Woodling and Norma Strauss. A prayer was given by the chaplain and Snell adjourned the meeting. The next meeting is Nov. 4[[In-content Ad]]
