Alpha M. Wedrick Weirick, 104, Warsaw, passed away at 10:55 a.m. April 13, 2015, in her home.
She was born March 26, 1911, in Medaryville, Ind., to C.L. “Newt” and Anna Verelle Winters Faris. On March 30, 1941, she was united in marriage to William R. “Bill” Wedrick, who preceded her in death in 1957. In March 1979 she then married Marvin Weirick, who also preceded her in death.
Living most of her life in Kosciusko County, she graduated from Warsaw High School, Class of 1929. She worked for Jet White Grocery Store for six and a half years and then worked for DePuy. She was a hostess at the Steer Inn from 1957 to 1965 then went to work for Champion Door, where she retired in 1979.
She was a member of Warsaw First Brethren Church. Her passion was bowling and she enjoyed working crosswords. She was a big fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Notre Dame Football as well as Notre Dame Girls Basketball.
Surviving are a stepson, Norman (and spouse Janet Weirick, Warsaw; a stepdaughter, Barbara Landis, Warsaw; three grandchildren, Kent (and spouse Alice) Williams, Lapel; Ray (and spouse Patti) Williams, Pierceton; and Lou Ann (and spouse Kevin) Courtney, Illinois; eight great-grandchildren: Hayden, Brody, Seth, Faith, Joy and Luke Williams, and Andrea and Emily Courtney; two great-great grandchildren, Grace and Caleb Williams; her adopted family, Janice Johnson, Michelle (and spouse Chad) Osborn Harter, Danielle (and spouse Steve) McDonald and Michael (and spouse Faith) Osborn, all of Warsaw; and many friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lt. Bernard “Buck” (and spouse Jane) Faris and Foster (and spouse Vera) Faris; two daughters, Sarah Wedrick and Patricia Williams Hartzler; a step daughter, Betty Luerson; two nephews, Terry and Tom Faris and her niece-in-law, Barbara Faris.
Services will be at 11 am Friday in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastors Jack Worth and Howard Immel officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.
