He was born Aug.16, 1954, in Fort Wayne, to Alden M. and Barbara Osburn Van Ness. On June 27, 1987, in Bremen, he married Debra J. Young, who survives.
A lifetime Warsaw area resident, he was a process operator at Dalton Foundry for 34 years, retiring in 2008. He was an Airman First Class in the U.S. Air Force.
Also surviving are a son, Jared Allen Van Ness, Warsaw; a daughter, Jennifer Cole, Warsaw; his mother, Barbara Hawn, Pierceton; a brother, Douglas M. Van Ness, Warsaw; seven grandchildren: Kayla, Lexi and Delaney Van Ness; Taylor, Aleaha and Maddie Cole; and Dillon Patrick. He was preceded in death by his father, Alden M. Van Ness, who died May 25, 1970, and a brother, Kim M. Van Ness, who died Jan. 6, 2002.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Warsaw United Pentecostal Church, Warsaw, with Pastor Dan Cox officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green, with military graveside services by members of Warsaw American Legion and Warsaw Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.
