PLYMOUTH - Allen Edward "Ed" Eastlund, 90, of 222 Parkview Ave., Plymouth, died at 11:25 a.m. July 12, 2009, in Pilgrim Manor.

He was born Aug. 10, 1918, in Lucas, S.D., to Allen Hilder and Maude Inez Frevert Eastlund, who preceded him in death. On May 9, 1970, in Nappanee, he married Marietta "Mary" Kaufman, who died in 2005.

He graduated from Argos High School in 1936. He was retired, was the former owner of Eastlund-Naylor Insurance agency, Nappanee, and also managed an apartment complex in Carrollton, Texas. For several years he worked at the Marshall Co. Historical Museum. He was a devoted member of First United Church of Christ, Plymouth, and was a Kiwanian in Nappanee. He loved working with his hands and was an expert woodworker. He also loved to cook.

Surviving are two sons, Gary (and spouse Linda) Eastlund, Leesburg, and Marvin (and spouse Phyllis) Eastlund, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Sharon M. Gray, Lafayette; two stepdaughters, Marcia (and spouse Ron) Martin, Plymouth, and Melody A. (and spouse Doug) Corey, Argos; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lillian (and spouse Ralph) Plummer and Dorothy (and spouse Don) Robinson, all of Indianapolis, and Lois Thompson, Pittsburg, Pa.; a stepbrother, Eddie (and spouse Joan) Waltz, Rochester; and a stepsister, Barbara (and spouse James) Rock, Rochester. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Olive Rynearson, Gladys Kamp and Eunice Kindig, and a brother, Charles Eastlund.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Church of Christ, 321 N. Center St., Plymouth, with the Rev. Dr. Ron Liechty and the Rev. Tom Padberg officiating. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
