ETNA GREEN - Continuing efforts to rid the community of a dangerous drug resulted in the seizure of another methamphetamine lab Thursday.
Working with information received from the Multi-County Drug Task Force in Marshall County, the Kosciusko County Special Operations Team located the lab at a residence south of Etna Green.
The home, at 2255 Ind. 19N, was occupied by Bret A. Feldman, 27, who is charged with dealing in a controlled substance, a Class B felony; possession of two or more ingredients with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine, a Class D felony; and possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor. He is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on $10,000 bond.
Also arrested at the residence was Kimberly Schaefer, 27, of Plymouth. She is charged with possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor, and visiting a common nuisance, a Class B misdemeanor. She was released from the KCJ after posting $450 bond.
Located during a search of the home was about 6 ounces of suspected methamphetamine and several ingredients used in the manufacture of meth.
Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine said today that the drug task force "is working hard hours. ... We're proud of what they're doing with these meth labs."
Rovenstine said the community should be aware of the dangers of meth not only because of the highly addictive nature of the drug, but also because of the possibility of explosions related to the use of the chemicals involved in the meth-cooking process.
"They're making some inroads," Rovenstine said about the drug team's eradication efforts, "but I think there's more to be found."
Most of the ingredients needed for the production of meth can be purchased by those making the illegal drug. However, one necessary ingredient - anhydrous ammonia - is usually stolen. Rovenstine said it is important for people in the agricultural community to report all thefts of this compound to help locate suspected meth labs.
Anyone with information about possible meth lab locations or suspects should contact the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department at 267-5667 or the Kosciusko County Special Operations Team at 372-2494. [[In-content Ad]]
