He was born Aug. 28, 1916, in Middletown, Ohio, to Theodore A. and Charlotte Howard Jennens. On Aug. 4, 1944, in Valparaiso, he married Kathleen A. Morris, who preceded him in death Dec. 11, 1988. On June 2, 1990, he married Mary F. McDougle Deniston, who preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 2010.
He served with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in the South Pacific.
He had been a farmer for many years. He had also worked for Coachman Trailers, a private lab technician in Gary, and had built the Akron Drive-In Restaurant in 1966 and operated it for many years before selling. He had been a member of the Rochester Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shriner’s Lodge for over 63 years, American Legion and the Akron Church of God.
Surviving are his step-children, William Michael (and spouse Barbara) Deniston, Nashville, Tenn., and Marianne (and spouse Don) Christianson, Rochester; two step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Bigler, Indianapolis; companion, Ruth Ann Funk, Rochester; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Heldt.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Akron Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester.
