They both graduated from Bourbon High School, were high school sweethearts, and were married Aug. 31, 1963, at the Bourbon Bible Church.
The couple spend their winters on Anna Maria Island, Fla., and their summers in Elkhart. Richard is the former owner of Hart City RV Sales, Elkhart, and Janet is a homemaker.
They have two children, Melissa Huffer, Elkhart, and Mark Aker, Leesburg.
They are also the grandparents of three grandsons: Brady, Bryce and Riley Huffer, Elkhart, and one step-granddaughter, Jena Fahlbush, Indianapolis.
They commemorated their anniversary with an extended family portrait.
