PIERCETON – Police say a man who was arrested following an attempted burglary Wednesday morning also will have two additional charges of Class B felony burglary and two additional charges of Class C felony theft from unrelated incidents.
Joshua Todd Eyer, 28, of 597 Old 13, Pierceton, was taken into custody after he reportedly attempted to burglarize the Number One Bait and Tackle Store located at the intersection of Ind. 13 and CR 350N in Pierceton.
According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department release, officers from North Webster, Pierceton and the KCSD responded shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a potential burglary in progress at the bait store. Officers had been advised the alleged suspect – later identified as Eyer – fled the scene in a vehicle and was headed in the direction of Jellystone Campground on CR 850E.
A Pierceton officer observed a vehicle matching the description provided and initiated a felony traffic stop. Eyer was apprehended without incident.
Sheriff’s department deputies and detectives observed evidence of an attempted burglary at Number One Bait and Tackle Store, as well as a stolen gasoline can that Eyer had reportedly thrown from his vehicle prior to the traffic stop.
Eyer has been preliminarily charged with felony theft, along with attempted burglary of a business. He is currently being held  in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $5,000 bond, but KCSD Public Information Officer Sgt. Chad Hill said his bond likely will be increased after the four additional felony charges are raised against him.
Hill said the additional charges are from an auto theft and three other burglaries, one of which was the Barbee Landing burglary earlier this month.[[In-content Ad]]
