Filing for the May 3 primary for the clerk-treasurer seat begins Wednesday. The general election is Nov. 8.
Offices up for election in the May primary are Winona Lake clerk-treasurer and town council seats wards 1-5; Warsaw mayor and clerk-treasurer, and Warsaw City Council districts 1-5 seats and two at-large seats; and Syracuse Town Council districts 3, 4 and 5.
During a phone interview this morning, Hicks said she is seeking re-election. She also said Adams called her this morning to inform her that he is also seeking the seat.
Hicks has served since November 1993 as the town's clerk-treasurer when she was appointed to replace Charlene Turner.
Adams' background includes 16 years as a member of the Indiana General Assembly, during which time he served on the House Ways and Means and Senate Finance committees; four years as Kosciusko County treasurer; and 16 years as chief financial officer in area school corporations including Goshen, Mishawaka and Warsaw. This is his fourth year on the school board.
"I am familiar with working with large budgets, studying the issues and listening to all parties. That will be especially important over the next few years with our current economy," Adams said.[[In-content Ad]]
