Accident Victim Identified, Still Critical

Joseph B. Jacobs, 33, Lake Street, Warsaw, remains in critical condition today after a rear-end collision with a semi truck Friday afternoon.
Jacobs was seriously injured and unresponsive when police responded to the accident on U.S. 30 at CR 150W shortly after 1 p.m. Friday. He was flown to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, according to a press release from the Warsaw Police Department issued Friday. Police determined his identity sometime after he was hospitalized.
According to the release, Jacobs did not brake before impact and his vehicle struck the rear of the semi at highway speeds. The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed for an hour and a half and the westbound lanes were closed for 15 minutes.
The driver of the semi, Gennadiy I. Trushov, 47, Port Matilda, Pa., was not injured in the accident.[[In-content Ad]]
