After 46 years, Rex Watters is transferring his ownership of Rex's Rendezvous to his son, Robin Watters.

Robin has worked at the tavern for the past 21 years.

The Kosciusko County Alcoholic Beverage Commission Thursday approved the transfer of Rex's liquor, beer and wine retailer's permit and Sunday sales permit to Robin. They also approved the permits' renewal.

Robin told the ABC: "It gets harder and harder to be an independent with all these buyouts."

He also said Rex's Rendezvous will remain basically the same. He said he does plan to expand the bathroom and to move the pay phone.

Harrigan's Irish Pub did not have a representative at the ABC meeting.

Last month, a Sunday sales renewal for the Pub was continued until State Excise Officer Patricia Fleck investigated their food sales. To be approved for a Sunday sales renewal, Harrigan's must have a total food sales of at least 50 percent. Thursday, Fleck said she will extend their food sales permit one more month until next month's meeting.

Regardless of whether they have representation or not at May's ABC meeting, Fleck said they will have the hearing. Harrigan's Irish Pub was approved in March for a liquor, beer and wine retailer's permit.

Renewals approved Thursday for beer and wine dealer's permits include Owen's, 302 W. Market St.; Owen's, 2211 E. Center St.; Sportsman Bar, 112 S. Huntington, Syracuse; and Spike's Beach Grill, 310 Eastlake Dr.

Liquor, beer and wine club permit renewals were approved for American Legion Post 253, Ind. 13S, North Webster, and for Loyal Order of Moose 1423, 1815 W. Lake St. ALP 253's renewal for Sunday sales was also approved.

Liquor, beer and wine retailer's permits were approved for Downtown, 207 W. Center St.; Pizza 2 Pizzaria, North Webster; Nancy Sideris Inc., 115 S. Buffalo St.; Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar, 2621 E. Center St.; and Hacienda Mexican Restaurant, 2590 Lake City Highway. Those also receiving Sunday sales permit renewals include Pizza 2 Pizzaria, Nancy Sideris Inc., Applebee's and Hacienda. [[In-content Ad]]
