If you’ve been following the recent letters to the editor, you’ve noticed, as I have, that Edith Bauer has quite a way with words.
The Social Security issue should well be a very hot topic/issue in the upcoming presidential election. A point that Ms. Bauer did omit was, as I understand it, during the presidency of L.B. Johnson is when our Social Security Trust Fund was violated – taken out and put into the general fund. And now the worry is that it will run out of its ability to pay oldsters by whichever year a mathematician figures it.
The ironic note is: Congress keeps automatically receiving its pay increases!
Democrats: Will you wake up and smell some roses? Republicans, too!
