A 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony will be Sept. 11 at Center Lake Pavilion to remember lives that were lost in the terrorist attack.

The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.

Warsaw Police Department patrolman Mike Cox will provide opening remarks.

Winona Lake Police Officer Brad Kellar will sing the national anthem. Ed Rock, Kosciusko County Emergency Management director, also will sing.

Ken Locke, Salvation Army community ministries director, will say a prayer and the "Battle of the Badges" winner will be announced.

Cox will provide a dedication of the 9/11 memorial that will be placed on the north side of the flagpoles at Center Lake Pavilion in October, according to Locke.

The memorial will have the names of four local law, fire and EMS personnel who lost their lives during the line of duty.

A framed artist rendering of the memorial will be presented to the families of Harold Shepler, Joseph Bauer, Phillip Hochstetler and Jason Beal.

Shepler, a former Warsaw Fire Department firefighter, died in 1930. Bauer, a former Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department chief deputy, died in 1954. Hochstetler, former KCSD detective sergeant, died in 1994. Beal, a former Indiana State Police Trooper, died in 2000.

The honor guard, consisting of local law enforcement, will retire the colors. American Legion Post 49 will give a 21-gun salute.
