An investigation into the theft of a gun led to the arrest of seven people on drug charges.

Gabriel Chavez Romero, 35, of 3104 E. Wooster Road Lot 31, Pierceton, and Baltazar Madrigal Mora, 47, same address, were arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, a Class C felony, and possession of stolen property, a Class D felony, according to a Kosciusko County Special Operations Team Drug Task Force press release.

Others arrested included: Maria Torres-Garcia, 32; Miguel Quiroz-Garcia, 40; Jose Garcia Olivera, 19; and Luis Quiroz-Torres, 22, all illegal aliens from Mexico; and Vincente Muniz, 20, of 2441 W. CR 250S Lot 35, Warsaw.

On Wednesday, Warsaw Police Department Cpl. Lee Ann Richardson began an investigation into a stolen gun that a subject attempted to sell to a local gun shop. WPD, Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department and Kosciusko County Drug Task Force officers followed leads to Lot 31 at Merrywood Mobile Home Park. Once there, the Drug Task Force searched the residence after receiving consent and found approximately 50 pounds of marijuana and a stolen hand gun inside the trailer, according to the information provided.

Romero and Mora were arrested at the trailer, and with their arrests, agents from the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Houston, Texas, came to Indiana to work with the Drug Task Force on Thursday. After an investigation by the two agencies, search warrants were obtained for Lot 6 at Shamrock Mobile Home Community and Lot 31 at Hide-Away Hills Mobile Home Community.

With assistance from the SWAT Team, KCSD, WPD and the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, the Drug Task Force served both search warrants simultaneously Friday.

At Lot 6, 75 pounds of marijuana, one-fourth pound of methamphetamine, 1 kilo of cocaine, two semi-automatic weapons, one SKS rifle, one stolen Ruger 9 mm hand gun and more than $9,000 in cash were seized. Torres-Garcia, both Miguel and Luis Quiroz-Torres and Olivera were arrested at that residence.

The search warrant at Lot 31 also lead to Lot 35 where a half pound of marijuana was confiscated and Muniz was arrested.

The Drug Task Force and Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement are continuing their investigation and more arrests are expected. Those arrested this week are part of an alleged larger drug ring that spans several states and is believed to be a major source of marijuana in Kosciusko County, according to the press release.
