I’ve read recent articles regarding the “brick and mortar” of our local schools, and the millions to be spent in the “best interest of our kids.” Already our government has shown the audacity to spend billions of dollars for education here and abroad. Yet there are some things money can’t buy. Our ability to learn and live together may be one!
We create schools, but the desire to learn has to begin before the kids arrive. We now have a social disorder that begins at home and is fueled by the money of technology and political bias. This needs to change.
Instead, we need a discipline in family structure and the basics of understanding by which to see minds and bodies grow. It is a legitimate taxpayer’s expense that kids have a basic education. But we have home schooling, private and charter schools and public schools all serving education. Furthermore, we have community and technical colleges working to relieve the ignorance of high school learning. How many classrooms must it take before the backpacks can’t carry anymore books?
Maybe we need to start with the “ABC’s” of learning to really know what money can buy!
