2 Face Charges After Drug Bust

SYRACUSE - Syracuse Police Department uncovered a substantial drug case that resulted in the arrest of two women.

SPD, with the help of CVS Pharmacy Loss Prevention, learned Candice L. Gilbert, 24, Albion, who was an employee of CVS, allegedly stole $9,000 worth of generic Vicodin and Xanax.[[In-content Ad]]Gilbert was arrested July 24 for theft from a business, dealing a controlled substance, dealing a controlled substance and obtaining a controlled substance. She was held on $10,000 bond.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Janua L. Riley, 44, of 117 N. Huntington St., Syracuse.

Riley allegedly was buying narcotics from Gilbert then selling them out of her business, Tru Colors, a hair salon.

Riley was booked into Kosciusko County Jail Wednesday morning on a charge of dealing a controlled substance, and she was held on $100,000 bond.

Riley had been charged with maintaining a common nuisance previously and, Wednesday, in Kosciusko Circuit Court pleaded guilty to both charges stemming from the investigation.

Riley's sentencing is set for Sept. 18.
