By Staff Report-
Major Bill Welch said today that the organization will likely not meet its stated goal of $74,000.
Volunteer bell ringers – more than 100, according to Welch – collected about $66,000 through the holiday season.
The agency planned to collect about 20 counter kettles today at local businesses and he hopes those donations will represent a few thousand dollars.
Last year, the Salvation Army of Kosciusko County collected about $71,000, Welch said.
Welch downplayed the impact of missing the goal and said some cuts would have to be made to services provided by the Christian-based agency.
The agency each year provides shoes for people with job interviews, school supplies, food pantry and rental assistance.
Welch said they accept donations year-round. Money or food can be dropped off at its center at 501 E. Arther St., Warsaw, or mailed to P.O. Box 1257, Warsaw, IN 46581-1257.
