The Rev. Robert M. Horne, 84, Winona Lake, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Dec. 26, 2016,  in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born April 13, 1932, in Boston, Mass., to Charles and Dora Melbourne Horne. In 1955 he was married to Betty Joy Rankin in Port Huron, Mich. She died Oct. 24, 2016.
He was a graduate of Bryan College, Dayton, Tenn.,  and of Grace College and Theological Seminary, Winona Lake. He earned a Doctorate of Ministry.
For many years he was a missionary with Baptist Mid-Missions, working in Liberia, West Africa, and British Guyana. He also taught math while in the mission field. 
He was a ham radio operator and played violin.
Survivors include a son, Mark (spouse Wendy) Horne, Lake Worth, Fla.; grandchildren, Megan Horne, Charlotte, N.C., and Adam Horne, Lake Worth; a niece, Caroline Perry, Wheaton, Ill.; and two nephews, Steve (spouse Amy) Horne Glen Ellyn, Ill., and John spouse (Lisa) Horne, Harrison, Ark.
He was preceded by his wife, Betty Joy Horne; a son, Jonathan Robert Horne, May 26, 2014; and a brother, Charles M. Horne.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, 2819 Patterson Road, Warsaw. Pastor Steve Rahn will officiate.
Friends may gather for one hour prior to the service to share memories with the family.
