MHS Named New Volleyball Coach
NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester Community School Board approved Melissa West as the new head volleyball coach at Manchester during its Tuesday meeting.
West is a 1994 North Miami graduate and a 1999 Manchester College graduate, and played four years of volleyball at both schools. She previously served as   freshman coach at Manchester, two years as junior varsity and varsity assistant at Rochester, four years as seventh grade coach at Manchester Junior High and has club volleyball coaching experience as well.
Manchester Athletic Director Jeremy Markham "We are excited to have Melissa as part of the Manchester coaching staff and working with our student-athletes. Melissa will instill a foundation of fundamentals, hard work,  and competitiveness within the volleyball program.  I know she is excited to get started to build Manchester volleyball into a respected program in the TRC".

Manchester Booster Club Dinner Scheduled For Friday
NORTH MANCHESTER – The annual Manchester Junior-Senior High School Booster Club community dinner is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday. The menu includes cheesy ham and potato soup, turkey croissant sandwiches, fruit cups, cookies, tea, lemonade and water.
The cost is $7 for a full meal, and $4 for a half meal. Attendance at the Manchester/Southwood boys basketball game is not necessary to attend the dinner. The varsity basketball game is scheduled to tip-off at 8 p.m.

GBB Game Moved To Historic Gym
The Warsaw-Wawasee girls varsity basketball game scheduled for Saturday at Warsaw has been moved to the “Hickory Gym” in Knightstown where the movie “Hoosiers” was filmed. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m. and is varsity only. The junior varsity game set for Saturday has been moved to 6:15 p.m. Monday at the Tiger Den.
Tickets are $10 each, with 300 alloted to each school.

WCHS Selling HOF Tix, Souvenirs
The Warsaw Community Schools’ athletic department is preselling tickets for the Boys City Securities Hall Of Fame Classic at Chrysler Fieldhouse in New Castle on Friday, Dec. 30. Tickets are $10 each and are good for all four games of the tournament.
The tourney opens at 11 a.m. with No. 5 Logansport against No. 7 Lawrence North, followed by Warsaw and No. 4 New Albany. The consolation game is at 6 p.m. and the championship at 7:45.
Tickets are available at all Warsaw home games and in the athletic office during school hours. Fans are asked to buy tickets in advance, as the athletic department bought 1,000 tickets as part of the agreement to be in the tournament.
The athletic department is also selling two new items which help support Tiger Athletics. New travel mugs are available for $10 each. The mugs are stainless steel with orange lids and are great for hot or cold drinks. This new item is sponsored by Penguin Point, who is offering to give free coffee refills in the mug through May 15, 2017.
In addition, a new, 16-ounce Tiger glass is available for purchase. The glass features the orange “Tiger claws” logo on the side.
The Tiger glasses cost $8 each, or two can be purchased for $15. Season ticket holders who buy their Hall of Fame tickets can get a $1 discount off one glass or $2 discount off two glasses.

Valley HOF Classic Tickets On Sale
AKRON – Advance tickets for Tippecanoe Valley’s girls basketball appearance in the City Securities Hall Of Fame Classic in New Castle Dec. 29 are available in the Valley athletic office.
All-tournament tickets are $10 each, and the first 250 fans to buy at ticket at the school receive a free T-shirt. Tickets at the door will be $20 each.
The sixth-ranked (3A) Lady Vikings will play North Harrison, currently ranked No. 1 in Class 3A, about 12:30 p.m., following the  Greenfield-Central vs. Plainfield game at 11 a.m. The consolation game tips off at 6 p.m., followed by the championship game.
A limited number of tickets are available for a fan bus to the games for $5. The bus will leave from the high school at 8 a.m. and return after the conclusion of Valley’s evening game.
People interested in advertising or making a financial contribution  in support of the Lady Vikings in the tournament should contact the athletic office at 574-598-2126 for pricing information.

Valley To Honor Military, First Responders
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley Athletics will honor veterans, active military, and local first responders on Jan. 6 at the boys varsity basketball game when the Vikings host Northfield. Any qualified individual can show identification for free admission to the game and will be recognized at halftime of the varsity game for their service to our country and communities.

Warsaw Upsets Northridge, Heads To Sectional Title Game
Facing off against Northern Lakes Conference Champions Northridge for the second time this season, the Warsaw girls soccer team had its work cut out for them in order to win the match and advance to the 3A sectional championship game at Elkhart. After a masterclass of a defensive performance as well as a timely goal, the Lady Tigers advanced with a 1-0 win.
