Trojans Open HNAC Play With 3-Point Win At Pioneer
ROYAL CENTER – Triton senior Zac Pitney had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while playing all 32 minutes of the Trojans’ 44-41 win over host Pioneer in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Grant Johnson had a team-high 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor and a 3-of-4 effort from the foul line. Dylan Hensley added eight rebounds to his four points in the game for Triton.
Trey Waddups had a game-high 22 points for Pioneer, playing its first game of the season due to a deep football playoff run that ended in the title game in Indianapolis.
Triton’s junior varsity won its game 31-25 over the Panthers. Tye Orsund had a game-high 12 points for the Trojans.
The Trojans take a 2-3 overall record into Tuesday’s non-conference game at Bethany Christian in Goshen.

Lady Warriors Win 56-34
GOSHEN – Wawasee hit 10 three-pointers in 17 attempts, and added nine two-point field goals in a 56-34 girls basketball win over Goshen in Northern Lakes Conference play Friday night.
Kabrea Rostochak and Hannah Haines had a trio of three-pointers each for Wawasee. Rostochak finished with a game-high 15 points, and Haines had 11. Aubrey Kuhn had 12 points for the Lady Warriors.
The Wawasee junior varsity improved to 8-1 this season with a 38-35 win over the Lady RedHawks. Freshman Shelby Bolt had nine points for the Lady Warriors.
Wawasee improved to 4-7 overall and 1-1 in the NLC. The Lady Warriors will host Bethany Christian in a non-conference game Tuesday night.

PORTAGE – Trailing 27-19 at halftime, Lakeland Christian Academy came back with 36 points in the second half to beat host Portage Christian 55-48 in boys basketball Friday night.
Jeremy Gross had 10 of his 13 points after intermission, and Josh McDaniel added 13 points of his own. Landon Twombly had nine of his 13 points after halftime, and Noah Twombly scored seven of his nine points over the last two quarters.
The win leaves the Cougars with a 3-2 record, their best five-game record since the 2008-09 season. They will travel to Denver to take on North Miami Tuesday night.
