Several of the participating Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies returned to the Justice Building Wednesday night to end their month-long “No Shave November” event, according to a news release from the KCSD.
Sheriff’s deputies, confinement officers and reserve deputies had been allowed to grow beards during November by Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine. Officers were asked to donate $20 to participate, which culminated with a check that was presented Wednesday night to Our Father’s House Director Roz Morgan.
Our Father’s House is a thrift store in Warsaw that specializes in assisting those in need and low-income families.
Rovenstine presented Roz with over $1,000 that had been collected by KCSD deputies in the 30 days.
“The Rovenstine family was instrumental when we first established Our Father’s House, and continues to amaze me. Rovenstine and his deputies are a godsend, particularly at this time of the year,” said Morgan.
Local barbers Bob and Nelson Conley provided all officers with a free shave Wednesday evening that eventually resembled a “shearing of sheep,” according to KCSD deputy Mike Fowler. Fowler, the idealist who organized the event, stated that officers are already discussing plans to continue the program next year.
