Yeo Nominated For Award
MISHAWAKA – Bourbon native and Bethel College guard Clay Yeo is a nominee for the 2017 Allstate NABC Good Works Team, one of the most prestigious off-the-court honors in men’s college basketball.
According to a press release, “Yeo has done an extraordinary job of demonstrating leadership both on and off the court through his tireless dedication to giving back to others, including assisting with clinics and camps for children in inner city South Bend; working with Lifeline, an organization committed to getting young people off of the streets and away from drugs and violence; encouraging his team to adopt an eight-year-old boy named Brady Burkhart who has fought cancer for much of his childhood, and visiting the Dominican Republic where he taught basketball to children on the island.”
From this year’s all-time high 181 nominees, a final roster of 10 award recipients, five players from the Division I level and five players from Divisions II, III and the NAIA, will be announced in February

Valley To Honor Military, First Responders
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley Athletics will honor veterans, active military, and local first responders on Jan. 6 at the boys varsity basketball game when the Vikings host Northfield. Any qualified individual can show identification for free admission to the game and will be recognized at halftime of the varsity game for their service to our country and communities.

December Race Scheduled
The seventh annual “Run for the Heart” 5k run/walk and one-mile Santa Chase will be Saturday at Sacred Heart School/Parish, Warsaw. The Santa Chase starts at 9 a.m. followed by the 5K at 9:30 a.m.
Proceeds from the race, in memory of Monsignor James J Wolf, will go to the tuition assistance fund at the school.
Registration can be completed online at runsignup.com or download a registration form from the Sacred Heart website at sacredheart-warsaw.org. Walk-up registration will be from 7:30 – 8:45 a.m. on race day.

Valley HOF Classic Tickets On Sale
AKRON – Advance tickets for Tippecanoe Valley’s girls basketball appearance in the City Securities Hall Of Fame Classic in New Castle Dec. 29 are available in the Valley athletic office.
All-tournament tickets are $10 each, and the first 250 fans to buy at ticket at the school receive a free T-shirt. Tickets at the door will be $20 each.
The fourth-ranked (3A) Lady Vikings will play North Harrison, currently ranked No. 2 in Class 3A, about 12:30 p.m., following the No. 8 (4A) Greenfield-Central vs. No. 7 (4A) Plainfield game at 11 a.m. The consolation game tips off at 6 p.m., followed by the championship game.
People interested in advertising in support of the Lady Vikings in the tournament should contact the athletic office at 574-598-2126 for pricing information.
