A Warsaw man is facing burglary charges after police say he took money, jewelry and a riding lawnmower from a woman’s home in the county.
Zachery Scott Eyer, 29, of 3521 Lake City Highway, #238, Warsaw, was charged with one count burglary, a level 4 felony, and one count of theft, a level 6 felony.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department officers responded to a burglary complaint on June 22. The homeowner advised the police she had come home and found a window broken. She advised the officer that several watches, a jug of loose change, including 52 gold dollar coins, and a riding lawnmower was missing.
Later in that day, the officer responded to call where two women said they had observed Eyer driving a orange lawnmower. They told the officer they asked Eyer to leave and Eyer became angry and began to throw jewelry items at them.
Eyer advised the deputy sheriff that he purchased the lawnmower and jewelry as gifts for one of the women, according to the affidavit.
On Aug. 12, KCSD detective Shane Bucher met with the victim. She advised that Eyer’s mother’s boyfriend returned her jewelry and containers of coins.
The cash and items stolen have a total value of $1,904.
Eyer was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail Monday at 11:28 a.m. Bond was set $15,250.
