NORTH?WEBSTER – Mary Jane Thompson, 83, Leesburg, died at 1:15 p.m. Aug. 27, 2016, at Grace Village Healthcare, Winona Lake.
She was born March 12, 1933, in LaPorte, to Clarence P. and Hulda M. Wedow Moore. On June 1, 1958, in LaPorte, she married William E. “Bill” Thompson, who survives, in Leesburg.
She graduated in 1951 from LaPorte High School, in 1955 from Ball State University, and received her master’s degree from St. Francis College, Fort Wayne. She grew up in LaPorte and moved to the Leesburg area in 1963 from Kimmell. She taught at Wolf Lake and Central Noble Schools for 10 years and then retired from Wawasee Community School Corporation after 15 years as a home economics teacher in North Webster.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Oswego, and the Arthritis Foundation.
Also surviving are one daughter, Connie (and spouse Jeff) Kaiser, Albion; two sons, Alan (and spouse Julia) Thompson, Wakarusa and James (and spouse Nancy) Thompson, Novi, Mich.; six grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Shaw, Chesterton and Marjorie (and spouse George) Hueckstedt, Sunny Hills, Fla. and one brother, Clarence (and spouse Eloise) Moore Jr., Englewood, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, with Pastor Ron Manahan of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
