Tippecanoe Valley roundup: Vikings Sweep North Judson

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley’s boys tennis team opened its season with a 5-0 sweep of visiting North Judson Thursday evening.
The Vikings won all five matches in straight sets, winning a pair of tiebreakers along the way. Eric Wright lost just three games in his win at No. 3 singles, and the No. 2 doubles team of Dylan Sponseller and Karson Bailey lost just two games in their win.
Valley will travel to Walton on Saturday to play in the Lewis-Cass Invitational.

West Noble Sweeps Valley
LIGONIER – Abby Betten had eight digs, Emily Peterson had seven assists and Sophie Bussard added six kills and four blocks in visiting Tippecanoe Valley’s 25-22, 25-17, 25-10 volleyball loss at West Noble Thursday evening.
The Lady Viking junior varsity also fell, 25-13 and 25-17. Marlea Myers had four digs and a pair of aces for Valley.
Tippecanoe Valley (1-1) will host Winamac at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Viking Soccer Blanked
NAPPANEE – Tippecanoe Valley’s boys soccer team fell 8-0 at NorthWood on Thursday.
The Vikings will host Three Rivers Conference foe Maconaquah Monday.
Lady Tiger Golf Defeats Tippecanoe Valley, Wabash
ROCHESTER – Senior Madi Graham was the medalist, shooting a 41 to lead the Warsaw girls golf team to a pair of wins at Mill Creel/Round Barn Golf Club Thursday. Warsaw’s team score of 186 bested Tippecanoe Valley’s 214 and Wabash’s 223.
Page Desenberg posted a score of 46, Delaney Wihebrink shot a 49, Izzy Ray a 50 and Madelyn Ray a 51 for Warsaw.
“The girls did a great job of managing a new course most of them have not seen. They are beginning to think their way through the round and manage the course on a much more consistent basis,“ Lady Tiger head coach Tad Nieter said.
Makayla Sandbakken had the low score for the Lady Vikings, shooting a 48. Victoria Biddle was a shot behind Sandbakken, with Blake McBrier coming in at 54, Bethany Johnson and Lexi Cumberland checked in with a 63 and 65, respectively.
Warsaw improved to 6-1 on the season, and with a split Valley moved its season record to 2-6.
The Lady Tigers will host the Warsaw invitational at Stonehenge Country club on Saturday. Tippecanoe Valley returns to Mill Creek on Saturday for the Rochester Invitational.
