NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester girls golf team used consistency, putting four players in the 40s, to beat visiting Wawasee 186-208 at Sycamore Golf Club Wednesday afternoon.
Lydia Little posted a 42, Samantha Kissel had a 45 and Kelsey Eichenauer a 47 to lead the Lady Squires. Karly Eichenauer shot a 52 and Leiah Brandenburg a 53 for Manchester.
Wawasee senior Aubrey Schmeltz was the medalist. She birdied the par-4 first hole and was at even par through five before settling on a 2-over 38. Zoe White was next with a 55 for the Lady Warriors, Jadison Rostochak a 57, Madison Beaman a 58 and Lesley Tayagua 60.
“We still have to do a better job away from home,” Wawasee head coach Steve Coverstone said. “But the young girls are learning how to do that.”
Wawasee’s golf team is right back at it today, traveling to Heron Creek Golf Club in LaGrange to take on Westview. Manchester will play in the Rochester?Invitational at Mill Creek/Round Barn Golf Club Saturday.

Lady Squire Soccer Wins

BUNKER HILL –  Manchester’s Lady Squire soccer team picked up its first win of the season, 3-1 over Mississinewa in Three Rivers Conference play Wednesday.
Sophomore Carsyn Howard had the opening goal, while senior Brooklyn Howard scored two; the first was off of an assist from Bailey Mooney, while the second was a penalty kick.
The Lady Squires will play their home opener at 5 p.m. today, hosting Warsaw.
