SYRACUSE – Jonita M. “Jo” Frank, 64, Syracuse, passed away at 10:18 a.m. Aug. 13, 2016, at her home.
She was born April 6, 1952, in Leon, Iowa, to Robert G. and Elsie L. McMurtrey Upfield. On July 1, 1972, in Weldon, Iowa, she married Alan R. Frank, who survives in Syracuse.
She graduated in 1970 from Mormon Trail High School, Garden Grove, Iowa, and in 1974 from William Penn College, Oskaloosa, Iowa.
She grew up in Iowa and lived in Anderson for seven years and Mexico, Ind., two years before moving to the Pierceton/Syracuse area in 1986. She retired from the Department of Family Resources, Warsaw, after 30-plus years of service and formerly worked in the Anderson and Wabash offices.
She was a member of the Church of God, North Webster; the Wawasee Camp of Gideon’s International Auxiliary, Syracuse; and formerly attended the Calvary Baptist Church, Oswego.
Also surviving are a daughter, Katie (and spouse Neal) Brown, South Whitley; four grandchildren: Ryan, Amy, Ally and Jay; a sister, Jayma (and spouse Ed) Smith, Humeston, Iowa; and a brother, Brad (and spouse Mary) Upfield, Merry Hill, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Amy Frank, in 1976; and a son, Nathan Frank, in 1997.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of God, North Webster, with Pastor Jeff Boyer of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse.
