He was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Warsaw, to Harold and Gladys Phillips Stevens. On Dec. 31, 1967, in Warsaw, he married Jean Jennings, who survives in Milford.
He is a 1949 graduate of Warsaw High School.
He entered the US Air Force April 24, 1951, through Indianapolis, serving during the Korean War. S/Sgt. William Paul Stevens was honorably discharged March 30, 1955, through Chanute AFB, Illinois.
He was a lifetime Kosciusko County resident and was a driver for Cover-All for many years. He was employed by Warsaw School System, and retired in 1998 from Tom Farms. He was a life member of American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126, both in Warsaw.
Also surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth (and spouse Jay) Dausman, Pierceton, and Margaret (and spouse Max) Grady, Milford; a son, William P. (and spouse Deborah) Stevens Jr., Bristol; six grandchildren: Paul (and spouse Krista) Dausman and Leigh Anne Jessop, all of Warsaw; William P. III, Michaela and Allison Stevens, all of Bristol; and Jade Grady, Milford; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rowena Womack, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Stevens, who died Feb. 11, 2010, and Lawrence Stevens, who died July 11, 1978.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, with Pastor E.J. Underwood, Warsaw Community Church, officiating. Military graveside honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
