WINONA LAKE – Thursday’s National Day of Prayer at the Rodeheaver Auditorium, Winona Lake, focused on praying together.
Bruce Shown, National Day of Prayer team, said Thursday was the 74th annual event for the National Day of Prayer and this year’s theme was “Hope given to us by God, from there we get our joy and peace no matter what is going on in the world or the community.”

People were gathered in tables at the Rodeheaver Auditorium and prayed together for families, schools, the military, the government and those suffering and persecuted.
Shown said no one was under any pressure to pray out loud as a silent prayer may be the most powerful in the throne room of God.
There were spiritual ideas for discussion, as well as guides.
Kirt Case, Bethany Couture and Connor Couture sang “Because He Lives” and “God Bless America,” accompanied by Richard Dick, who played various songs throughout the hour of prayer.
Josiah Politano, from OneCry and executive director of PURE Assembly, did the benediction to close out the event.
