Miriam Annette Bryant, 100, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, surrounded by her family at her home in Pierceton.
She was born to Stanley Herman and Rheda Engle Locke on March 21, 1924, in Wakarusa. Miriam married the love of her life, Charles Eugene Bryant, on May 12, 1946. They were married 66 years until his passing on Dec. 22, 2012.
Miriam was a gracious helpmate to her husband on their farm where she loved to tend her garden and can the harvest. She is lovingly remembered for her Godly example as a praying Christian mother and wife. Her years of faithfulness and devotion to the Lord also blessed all those who found their way across her path and especially her kitchen. Her warm sweet smile, compassionate love and kindness was evidenced as she served up countless home-cooked meals for family and friends to farm hands and neighbors.
Miriam was a member of Dutchtown Brethren Church and Winona Lake Grace Church. She took great joy in serving her church family. Teaching children’s Sunday school and organizing the yearly vacation Bible school picnic were among her favorites. Hard work and prayers defined her life and she has left an indelible heritage to her family. “Well done, good and faithful servant” will be her heavenly reward.
Miriam is survived by her three daughters: Sharon Obregon, Pierceton; Rebecca (Philip) Ogden-Bowman, Goshen; and Diane (Ryan) Piper, Indianapolis. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Rodney (Elvia ) Obregon, Kristina Obregon, Tiffany (John) Tarlton, Josh (Sarah) Ogden, Ginger (Jeremy) Byng, Zhenya (Vanessa) Ogden, Dasha Ogden, Ethan Piper, Evan Piper; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Alice Beezley. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons-in-law, Arturo Obregon and Ronald Ogden; and her brother, Donald Locke.
Friends and family are invited for a visitation that will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March, 18, as well as an hour prior to the service on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Miriam’s life will be celebrated with a service at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19 and officiated by her grandson, Pastor Jeremy Byng. A graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton.
Memorial contributions in Miriam’s honor can be given to Dutchtown Brethren Church, 4057 E. 300 N., Warsaw, IN 46582; or to Winona Lake Grace Church, 1200 Kings Hwy., Winona Lake, IN 46590.
