Jordan Randall continues to raise the bar- literally. Entering the 2025 season, Randall had already received national attention and had been on numerous watch lists for this year. The Warsaw Junior has started the Indoor Track season well ahead of where he left off last year. Taking from the experiences of his sophomore season, he has bested the heights of those results already in his first two meets. In an early-season meet this past December, Randall continued to garner national attention when he jumped 7’0.75”. This somewhat odd height was by plan. That extra one-quarter of an inch was higher than his previous best which he achieved at the IHSAA regional last season. This height also added to his already WCHS school record mark, and moved Randall to #6 all-time in the state of Indiana for indoor competition.
Chasing that next level of eliteness, Randall reset his goal as he prepared for the meet this past weekend at the MLK-Weekend Invite in Louisville, KY. Entering the competition at 6’6” as the lone remaining jumper,Randall cleared his first bar with ease. The bar was then raised to 6’8” then 6’10” respectively, both of which were cleared on first attempts. Then Randall chose to make a bold move as the bar was raised to 7’2.25”, four and one quarter inches higher than the previous bar and nearly a foot and a half higher than his height. The attention at the meet turned towards Randall and all eyes were focused on the high jump area. After an announcement by the meet’s emcee of the height of the bar, Randall began the ‘jump clap’ and the entire arena began to clap along with him. He began his approach as the clapping from the crowd increased in volume and speed. As he arrived at the mat he launched his 5’7” frame into the air. A moment later all in attendance cheered as they realized they had just seen the new US #1 performance this year as Randall cleared the bar. The junior moved up to the #3 All-Time Indiana high school spot, and #15 All-Time in the nation in indoor competition. This bar also ranks him in a tie for #6 All-Time indoors or out in Indiana.
Randall had begun showing signs of greatness during his Lincoln Elementary days, jumping a PR of 5’1” during his first two seasons of track and field. This increased, as did the training and learning about the mechanics and training of what it takes to excel in this event. As a middle school jumper representing Lakeview, Randall began to gain attention in the community jumping 5’8” during his 7th grade season, then posting several MS marks in the top of the nation as an 8th grader after clearing 6’4.25” and winning the Indiana MS State Championships and a MS National Championship at Adidas Outdoor Nationals.
Leveling up, he would start his high school career by adding several inches to his record, posting a PR of 6’9” that season both indoors and out. He had several noteworthy accomplishments including finishing 2nd at the Hooser State Relays indoor championship meet, winning the NLC conference championship, winning both the sectional and the regional championships, and 5th at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals. His 6’9” during indoor season was also good enough for the freshman class national indoor record which he still holds. He also holds a tie for the state freshman class record.
Randall added fall cross country to his training his sophomore year, and the following indoor season cleared the 7’ mark and also finished 1st at the HSR Large School meet. Progression continued, as Randall raised the bar during the Outdoor season winning his second NLC championship, securing his second sectional championship, and clearing 7’0.5” to secure his second regional championship and eventually ending the season with a third place finish at the IHSAA state meet and another All-American finish at the Nike Outdoor Nationals. His 7’0.5” clearance was good for the sophomore class national lead for the season, and put him at #21 on Indiana’s all time list, and also gave hime the state sophomore class record.
Randall is focused on continuing to raise the bar, with several meets remaining on the indoor schedule, including a chance to jump against college competition in February at Grand Valley State University, an elite invite for the Nike US Indoor Nationals in mid March, as well as the Hoosier State Relays indoor state championships before transitioning to the outdoor season. With much still to be written about this junior over the coming years, one thing remains clear, Randall has brought national attention to the Warsaw Track & Field community.
