Warsaw Community Schools (WCS) announced the addition of 20 new Avive automated external defibrillators (AEDs) throughout the district.
The new units will replace older models and expand AED coverage to the Warsaw Community High School campus and non-school district buildings. The project was made possible through a $33,980 donation from Health First Kosciusko, according to a news release from WCS.
In total, the district has implemented a comprehensive AED plan, with Avive AEDs placed in secondary schools and ZOLL AEDs deployed in elementary schools, thanks to a prior donation from the K21 Health Foundation in August 2023.
“Having additional and newer AEDs in our district provides extra safety measures in case of a medical emergency,” said Tracey Akers, WCS Welcome Center coordinator. “These devices are an important step as we work toward certification as a ‘Heart Safe’ school district through Project ADAM.”

Chip Shots: How Callous IS It?
For every 700 to 1,000 words of mine you read on any given Saturday, I have a list of callous, cynical thoughts and remarks I can make about the topics I discuss… easily five-fold of what I allow past my filter and, in turn, e-mail to my editor.
