Jan Diaz Officially Assumes Role As CEO Of BBB Serving Northern Indiana

FORT WAYNE – The Better Business Bureau (BBB) Serving Northern Indiana announced Jan Diaz has officially assumed the role of CEO, effective Jan. 1.
Rick Walz retired after 10 years of service to BBB, including the last three years as president and CEO.
During his tenure, Walz led BBB Serving Northern Indiana through expanding community programs, advancing digital resources and fostering partnerships to build the marketplace. His leadership helped modernize the organization, implementing a hybrid work model, and launching innovative initiatives, according to the release from BBB.
Diaz, who joined BBB as vice president and chief operations officer in 2022 after serving on its board of directors since 2017, brings experience and expertise. Her background spans the public, private and social sectors, including a tenure in higher education. During her time at BBB, Diaz has helped optimize operations and strategic initiatives in the 23-county region it serves, the release states.
“I am truly honored to step into this role and continue the important work of advancing trust in our community,” said Diaz. “Rick Walz has left a lasting legacy, and I look forward to building on the incredible foundation he established.”
The board of directors expressed gratitude to Walz for his years of leadership and service and shared their enthusiasm for Diaz’s appointment. “Rick Walz has been an exceptional leader for BBB Serving Northern Indiana, and we are thrilled to welcome Jan Diaz as the new CEO,” said Shelly Koelper, board chair. “Her leadership will ensure BBB remains a vital resource for businesses and consumers in northern Indiana.”
