Sylvia J. Holloway, a beloved member of her community and devoted family woman, passed away at Grace Village in Winona Lake on Dec. 30, 2024, at the age of 99.
Born on May 29, 1925, to Herman and Orpha Montague, Sylvia lived a rich and fulfilling life marked by her strong faith and love for her family.
A proud graduate of Bourbon High School, class of 1943, Sylvia dedicated herself to her career as a machinist at DePuy, where she was respected for her skill and work ethic. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she found tremendous joy in her hobbies, which included wood crafts, fishing and gardening, especially growing vegetables. Sylvia often enjoyed going to craft shows, allowing her to share her passions with others.
Sylvia's legacy is carried on by her daughter, Janice (Lyle) Enyeart; stepchildren, Phyllis Holloway, Robert Grindle, Edson (Jolene) Holloway, Donna (David) Shafer and Teresa (Mike) Tomlinson; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and stepson-in-law, Joel Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Charles Grindle in 1981 and Donald Holloway in 2010; her stepdaughter, Cheryl Christ; and her siblings: LaVaun Montague, Ward Montague and Bill Montague.
Titus Funeral Home is entrusted with Sylvia's care. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home, 2000 Sheridan St., Warsaw, on Friday, Jan. 3 from 10 to 11 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Richard Tracy officiating. Burial at Sandridge Cemetery in Bourbon, Indiana will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Heart Association.
