Warsaw Community Public Library Board of Trustees approved Luminaut as the architecture firm handling the library's future renovations.
Luminaut is based out of Indianapolis and will handle the schematic design for WCPL's renovations.
During a WCPL board meeting on Monday, Library Director Heather Barron said the renovation committee has spent the last couple months touring other libraries and speaking with library directors to get feedback and recommendations.
"We feel very confident based on the tours, what we've seen, what we know of the reputation, and some of the amazing feedback from some of the directors we've talked to in making a recommendation to move forward with Luminaut," said Barron.
Board member Ben Rice said selecting an architect for the project was "a very rigorous process" and that the committee feels "very comfortable" in Luminaut's ability to handle the project.
Barron will be presenting the library's feasibility study to Warsaw Common Council on Feb. 18.
Barron also provided an update on legislative concerns about Senate Bill 283, which, if passed, would remove the taxing authority libraries have. She noted some factors the bill might not be taking into consideration, including libraries being structured through Indiana code and that elected officials make library board appointments.
The board's next meeting is at 4 p.m. March 10.
